Description

Thermal energy storage · wall-mounted fireclay heater

Store part of the heat and release it after active heating stops

TECHNOTHERM DSM Z 1000 is a 1.0 kW wall-mounted electric heater built around a slim anthracite cabinet, fireclay core and DSM control platform. It is intended for smaller rooms and interiors where a slim wall-mounted heater is preferred. The fireclay core delivers heat while electricity is available and continues releasing retained heat after the active input stops.

Photovoltaic surplus or lower-price electricity can therefore cover part of a room’s later heating demand. The heater does not replace a heat-loss calculation, but it gives controllable electricity a clear purpose: producing heat in the room where that heat will actually be needed.

How the fireclay core extends heat release

A simple direct heater produces heat only while power is applied. A full storage heater has a much larger core intended to accept a defined multi-hour charge. This design sits between those concepts: it responds during operation, while the fireclay mass smooths the output and carries part of the heat beyond the active electrical period.

TECHNOTHERM DSM Z 1000 should be selected from room heat loss, desired operating schedule and available controllable electricity. Floor area alone is an orientation, not a design result. Insulation, glazing, outside walls, ventilation and expected indoor temperature all affect the required power. WodaTherm verifies those inputs so the heater does not rely on permanent peak operation or leave the room underheated.

Heat now and later

The heater produces useful room heat while its fireclay mass retains part of the input and continues releasing it after active heating.

PV-surplus destination

A controlled electrical load can absorb selected photovoltaic surplus when the room has a genuine future heat requirement.

Dynamic-tariff ready concept

Charging or heating can be shifted toward lower-price periods when the external control and building demand are designed together.

Silent everyday comfort

Radiation and natural convection deliver heat without a continuously running fan or moving compressor.

Solid German construction

A robust steel cabinet and fireclay storage elements create a durable appliance intended for permanent installation.

Published technical data

Power, dimensions, mass, finish and control type are stated for the product offered here rather than for a generic product family.

From solar production or low-price electricity to stored room heat

The electrical element transfers energy into the cabinet and fireclay core. Part of the output reaches the room immediately, while the heavier storage mass changes temperature more slowly. After the controller reduces or stops the electrical input, the warm core continues transferring heat through the housing and air channels. The room therefore receives a steadier output than from a very lightweight element.

An external PV or tariff controller can authorise operation when energy conditions are favourable, but comfort remains the governing requirement. The system must know whether the room actually needs stored heat. Charging a warm, unoccupied room simply to consume surplus is not efficient. The best strategy combines a room thermostat, time programme, energy signal and sensible temperature limits.

Where an electrical battery is also installed, the two stores can be assigned different jobs. The battery supports general electrical loads and backup strategy; the thermal store covers planned heating demand. Priorities can then be set so that essential electrical reserve is protected while genuine excess production is diverted to heat.

Comfort logic and energy logic work together

The room thermostat decides whether heat is needed; an energy-management signal decides whether the current moment is favourable. A successful installation coordinates both conditions. Time programmes, open-window detection and remote control can reduce unnecessary operation, while a PV or tariff input can shift flexible heating into the preferred period.

External relays must be rated and connected exactly as the manufacturer permits. An automation platform should fail to a safe and understandable state if internet access or price data is unavailable. Manual override remains important for normal room use.

Use heat where it will be needed

This product is most effective in a regularly used room whose future heat demand is predictable. Offices, living spaces, workshops and selected transition spaces can all be candidates when the building and electrical connection suit the appliance.

Placement affects both comfort and control. The heater needs open air paths, appropriate clearances and a wall capable of carrying its mass. It should not be hidden behind furniture or curtains, and its thermostat must sense representative room conditions.

Permanent electrical and structural installation

The wall, anchors and surrounding construction must support the stated product weight. Mark the exact mounting points from the current template or manual and maintain all minimum distances. Because the cabinet includes dense fireclay material, handling and delivery access must be planned in advance.

A qualified electrical professional must provide isolation, circuit protection, protective conductor and any approved control interface. The installer should verify supply voltage, earth continuity, thermostat operation, energy-management input and heat response before handover. Do not cover the heater, obstruct the convection openings or operate damaged equipment.

The product stores heat and its surfaces can become hot. Position it away from materials and situations prohibited by the manual and explain normal operation to all users. Service work is carried out only after electrical isolation and sufficient cooling time.

Delivery and order details

Backorder accepted; estimated delivery 2–4 weeks. WodaTherm confirms availability, pallet or parcel method, delivery access and the selected control variant after the order. The displayed price applies to the product listed in the technical table.

Electrical installation, wall preparation, external energy-management hardware and commissioning are included only when explicitly listed. Product photographs can show the wider model family; finish and control details are governed by the SKU and order confirmation.

Manufacturer warranty and service conditions apply through the confirmed supply channel. Keep the invoice, serial number and commissioning information. If transport damage is visible, record it before accepting or unpacking the shipment.
