{"id":10497,"date":"2025-04-11T12:02:12","date_gmt":"2025-04-11T10:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/?p=10497"},"modified":"2025-04-11T12:47:35","modified_gmt":"2025-04-11T10:47:35","slug":"ath11k-linux-and-openwrt-driver-for-wifi-6-qcn-9074-dual-band-module-compex-wle3002hx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/de\/ath11k-linux-and-openwrt-driver-for-wifi-6-qcn-9074-dual-band-module-compex-wle3002hx\/","title":{"rendered":"Ath11k Linux and OpenWRT driver for WiFi 6 QCN 9074  COMPEX WLE3002HX card"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hello Linux and OpenWRT users,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last time we described \u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/support-524wifi6-dr9074-triband-card-on-rockchip-5b\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/support-524wifi6-dr9074-triband-card-on-rockchip-5b\/\">reference guide how to run QCN 9024 \/ 9074 DR9074-Triband module with our ath11k driver on Rockship board with Ubuntu.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we share a guide how to make COMPEX WLE3002HX module work well under Linux 6.1.99 and OpenWRT<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LINUX:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1 &#8211; <strong>Use Linux 6.1.99 kernel version and add ath11k related drivers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2 &#8211; <strong>Use<\/strong> <strong>QCN9074\/hw1.0\/2.7.0.1\/WLAN.HK.2.7.0.1-01744-QCAHKSWPL_SILICONZ-1 firmware version<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3 &#8211; <strong>Copy the firmware to the directory\/lib\/firmware\/ath11k\/QCN9074\/hw1.0\/directory, as shown in the following figure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"557\" height=\"118\" src=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10499\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1.jpg 557w, https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1-300x64.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. Use ifconfig to check that wlan0 has been recognized.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"718\" height=\"166\" src=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10501\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/3.jpg 718w, https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/3-600x139.jpg 600w, https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/3-300x69.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 718px) 100vw, 718px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>6.Scan external WiFi using the WPA_CLI scan and WPA_CLI scan_desult commands, only 5G band WiFi can be scanned<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"557\" height=\"73\" src=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10504\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/4.jpg 557w, https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/4-300x39.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>7.Connect to the scanned 5G frequency band WIFI for normal communication.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>8. According to the previously provided document, replace the relevant firmware. The document content is as follows, please use serial console:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a><\/a>1.cd \/lib\/firmware<br>2.mkdir ath11k &amp;&amp; cd ath11k<br>3.mkdir QCN9074 &amp;&amp; cd QCN9074<br>4.mkdir hw1.0 &amp;&amp; cd hw1.0<br>5.cp \/directory\/of\/bdf.bin .\/ (repeat this step for all above files)<br>6.ln -s WLE3002HX_SPF11_4_2G.bin board.bin (for first attempt on symbolic link)<br><br>To change board data files after first attempt:<br>Change to 2G: ln -s -f WLE3002HX_SPF11_4_2G.bin board.bin<br>Change to 5G: ln -s -f WLE3002HX_SPF11_4_5G.bin board.bin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please replace DBF completely, the file name needs to be changed to the name in your system as described in this file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please contact us and we will sned these files to our customers by email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>9. According to the understanding, WLE3002HX_SFP11_4_2G.bin needs to be soft connected to<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\/lib\/firmware\/ath11k\/QCN9074\/hw1.0\/board.bin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"557\" height=\"137\" src=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10505\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/5.jpg 557w, https:\/\/wodatherm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/5-300x74.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>OpenWRT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately what we did was:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Deactivate ath11k-firmware from my openwrt custom builds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Get the verified firmware version from git &#8211;  WLAN.HK.2.7.0.1-01744-QCAHKSWPL_SILICONZ-1 e.g. 2 files amss.bin and m3.bin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Never download\/use board-2.bin from qualcomm firmware<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. cp WLE3002HX5G.bin \/lib\/firmware\/ath11k\/QCN9074\/hw1.0\/board.bin (instead of symlinking)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">bonus &#8211; cron to recreate the fw folder with files from backup location if missin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">so the \/lib\/firmware\/ath11k\/QCN9074\/hw1.0 folder contains only 3 files: amss.bin &nbsp; board.bin &nbsp;m3.bin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">bonus &#8211; startup cron to recreate the fw folder with files from backup location if missing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This way the adapter works fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you for reading.
